Buyer’s Guide – Best Multi Room Camping Tents
Here’s a guide to walk you through all the governing factors that could help you make the right choice:

Tent Capacity
It is determined by the no. of people who would sleep in it. Generally, it is recommended to buy a tent one person higher than the actual no. of people occupying it. This gives you room to store gear inside the tent.
You could even dry your wet shoes or clothes in the screen room without fearing damage, bugs, or moisture inside the tent. Bigger tents, intuitively become much larger and thus heavier than smaller ones but is a trump card since you can still resume camping even in torrential rains, for example.
You wouldn’t need to be afraid of feeling cramped with bigger tents. Bigger tents also offer good peak height which lets you stand inside with ease which becomes important if you were to stay inside a tent for long.
Heavy-duty Zippers
Zippers take a lot of pressure and are not given enough credit for a good tent and a subsequent pleasant camping experience. We are guilty of not having used them carefully enough. Therefore, durability and ease of using zippers should be one important attribute in your tent choice.
Poles
Tents come with either aluminum/steel or fiberglass poles. Aluminum/steel poles are much sturdier and more durable than fiberglass ones but are comparatively heavier too.
Fiberglass ones are lighter but much more fragile than steel or aluminum ones. Even if aluminum one’s bend, you can carefully straighten them. Don’t forget to carry extra poles for unexpected circumstances.
The Footprint
Footprints are usually sold separately but are important to possess before going out camping in the wild. Footprints are smaller than the tent floor.
They provide added protection against stones or twigs under the tent floor that might puncture it or might hurt you or your children while walking over those twigs under. It also becomes a moisture barrier.
Type Of Tents
Based On Design
- Dome Tents– The sides near the top are slant and peak height is less making it impossible to stand straight inside the tent.
- Cabin Tents– Higher peak height and more vertical walls. You can stand up straight when inside.
- A-frame tents– These are the traditional backyard camps with A-frames. There are much better and improved ones available these days, though.
- Tunnel tents– They have a uniform headroom because of the uniform arch design which helps offer good interior space.
- Instant and pop-up tents– short setting up and doubling up time required.
Based On Camping Time
- 3 -Season tents– have a fine mesh top that provides ventilation and prevents condensation inside the tent. It also has a rainfly that covers the mesh. 3 season tents can be used for all seasons except for winter/ mountain camping.
- 4- Season tents– doesn’t provide much room for ventilation and makes for a good choice for winter/ mountain camping.
- Tent vestibules– Treat these like mudrooms that are an accessory to a multi-room camping tent where you can stash your muddy clothes or all-important gears. This lets you keep your sleeping area clean and prevents unnecessary condensation in the interior of the tent.
- Tent pegs/ stakes- This helps maintain the tent’s shape and hold against even extreme winds. Carry extra pegs and ropes to tie loops of tents to it.
- Tent vestibules– Treat these like mudrooms that are an accessory to a multi-room camping tent where you can stash your muddy clothes or all-important gears. This lets you keep your sleeping area clean and prevents unnecessary condensation in the interior of the tent.
Additional Features
Fly- Fly or rainfly is a waterproof cover that even prevents the tent from blowing away in the wind.
Seams and double stitching– Use a seam sealer or waterproof spray on all seams and double stitches.
Roof vent– helps prevent condensation inside the tent.
Meshing– helps prevent bugs inside the tent.

Weight | 25 ounces |
Dimension | 9.76 x 9.37 x 3.86 inches |
Our Opinion
The Ozark Trail 12-Person 3-Room Instant Cabin Tent is a two-room tent for camping that has a screen room in addition to the 2 rooms that could serve either as a 3rd room or as a bug-free front place porch.
We found the tent easy to set up since the poles came pre-attached making it a pop-up style tent. Folding and packing up in the carry bag (included) seemed easy too. Staking the tent down, to keep the tent stable in heavy wind, may lengthen the setup time.
The stakes were of steel which, in our experience, are better than fiberglass ones given their better durability. The seams seemed to be waterproof even without seam sealers or waterproof spray.
The organizer pockets made it easier to store our gear and other essentials. These pockets are usually prone to water leakage during a rainstorm but we encountered no such nightmare further solidifying our judgment of the tent’s water resistivity.
The windows were fully closable which holds an edge over other multi-room camping tents since they give no space for those nasty little bugs and also prevent water from seeping in through the windows. The vents helped keep the humidity inside the tent (because of condensation from our breathing) in check.
A cabin-style tent means more peak height because of vertical walls which allowed us to stand straight inside the tent. No one can stay sitting/sleeping especially when there is a storm and one has to stay indoors for long.
The cabinet had enough room for 12 persons or 3 queen size beds. There was also electrical cord access which was convenient since we needed electricity inside the tent and this cord access secured the connection from water leakage and potential electrocution to the persons inside.
The room dividers were mere flaps and did not zip all the way which came in the way of our privacy and was unarguable, vexing. But we hope to convince you to overlook this small inconvenience given the long list of pros. Be sure to cup the best camp planner prize with the Ozark Trail 12-Person 3-Room Instant Cabin Tent.

Our Opinion
The Wenzel 8 Person Klondike Tent is a multi-room tent with a porch that has one room for 2 queen size beds and accommodates 8 persons and also has a screen room that could serve either as a 3rd room or as a bug-free front place porch.
The stakes were of steel which is a good choice given their durability. Though some assembly was required for setting up, we did not find it as such a big inconvenience to put it in the cons list since the steel and plastic stakes provided for a “ping and ring” setup.
The fiberglass frame makes the tent much more lightweight than its steel frame counterparts. The almost vertical walls offer a convenient headroom which allowed us to stand straight inside the tent.
No one can stay sitting/sleeping especially when there is a storm and one has to stay indoors for long. We tested our tent in a rainstorm and we found this tent extremely waterproof even in a literal rainstorm.
The seams stayed waterproof even without seam sealers or waterproof spray. We would still recommend you to carry some sealers around for emergencies. The lightweight dress helped in portability.
The vents helped keep the humidity inside the tent (because of condensation from our breathing) in check. The removable fly helped escape the rain by covering the meshed-roof vent. We removed the fly when we wanted more air circulation inside the tent.
The organizer pockets made it easier to store our gear and other essentials. These pockets are usually prone to water leakage during a rainstorm but we encountered no such nightmare further solidifying our judgment of the tent’s water resistivity.
The windows were fully closable which holds an edge over other camping tents since they give no space for those nasty little bugs and also prevent water from seeping in through the windows.
There should have been electrical cord access which would have proved convenient since we needed electricity inside the tent and this could have helped access the cord and secured the connection from water leakage and potential electrocution to the persons inside.
The inverted T style doors were also bothersome since the flaps would get frequently stuck in the zipper and the intersection of the 3 zippers of the T door would leave a gap big enough for a small reptile to creep in.
We hacked it by stuffing the opening with a woolen cap. But we hope to convince you to overlook this small inconvenience given the long list of pros. Look no further for a good camping choice than the Wenzel 8 Person Klondike Tent.

Our Opinion
The HIKERGARDEN CAMPROS Tent is a large multi-room camping tent that accommodates 8 persons (or 8 sleeping bags) and 3 queen size beds. We found that the dividers zipped up perfectly and sectioned rooms that ensured privacy. We even used the curtains as a screen for watching a movie and their white reflective material proved convenient for the same.
The color-coordinated poles and sleeves made it easy to set the tent up by just 2 people. We found the tent easy to set up since the poles came pre-attached making it a pop-up style tent. Folding and packing up in the carry bag (included) seemed easy too.
The mesh interiors and option of zippers made the tent breathable. We found the fabric of the tent fairly waterproof.
The organizer pockets made it easier to store our gear and other essentials. These pockets are usually prone to water leakage during a rainstorm but we encountered no such nightmare further solidifying our judgment of the tent’s water resistivity.
The seams stayed waterproof even without seam sealers or waterproof spray. We would still recommend you to carry some sealers around for emergencies. The vents helped keep the humidity inside the tent (because of condensation from our breathing) in check.

The fiberglass frame makes the tent much more lightweight than its steel frame counterparts. The lightweight dress helped in portability. The removable fly helped escape the rain by covering the meshed-roof vent. We removed the fly when we wanted more air circulation inside the tent.
We did realize the need for a screen room that could be used as a bug-free front porch/mudroom to dry out muddy clothes/shoes. Other than this slight discomfort, we found our experience with the HIKERGARDEN CAMPROS Tent more than just pleasant.

Our Opinion
The Core 12 Person Instant Cabin Tent is a large multi-room camping tent with separate rooms that accommodates 12 people and 3 air mattresses. We found the tent easy to set up since the poles came pre-attached making it a pop-up style tent.
Folding and packing up in the carry bag (included) seemed easy too. The vents helped keep the humidity inside the tent (because of condensation from our breathing) in check.
The mesh interiors and option of zippers made the tent breathable. The ends of the tents had an extension that could be staked to permit more airflow at the ground level. To restrict the airflow, simply straighten the extension instead of staking it.
The poles were of steel which, in our experience, are better than fiberglass ones given their better durability.
There were 2 rooms and the dividers could be zipped up to create one more room.
The main door could either be a D-door or a T-door which were on opposite sides of the tent. We found the provision of a lantern hook quite convenient since we did not have to use a rope to hang one.
A cabin-style tent means more peak height because of vertical walls which allowed us to stand straight inside the tent. No one can stay sitting/sleeping especially when there is a storm and one has to stay indoors for long.
The removable fly helped escape the rain by covering the meshed-roof vent. We removed the fly when we wanted more air circulation inside the tent.
We did realize the need for a screen room that could be used as a bug-free front porch/mudroom to dry out muddy clothes/shoes. We urge you to overlook this slight inconvenience and pick the Core 12 Person Instant Cabin Tent as your camping choice.

Our Opinion
The Coleman 8-Person Tent is a large multi-room camping tent that accommodates 8 people and 2 queen size beds. We found the tent easy to set up since the poles come pre-attached. Folding and packing up in the carry bag (included) seemed easy too.
Large screen windows and doors made the interiors breathable and bugs-free. A cabin-style tent means more peak height because of vertical walls which allowed us to stand straight inside the tent. No one can stay sitting/sleeping especially when there is a storm and one has to stay indoors for long.
Some dividers could be zipped up to create some privacy. The organizer pockets made it easier to store our gear and other essentials.
The frame made the tent quite lightweight which in turn helped in portability. We did feel that the tent was not the most waterproof and we needed a tarp under and on top of the tent to keep it dry. Other than this we quite enjoyed our experience with the Coleman 8-Person Tent.

Our Opinion
The Browning Camping Big Horn Tent is a multi-room family camping tent that accommodates 8 sleeping bags. It is a 3-season tent that can be used all-year-round except for winters/mountain camping.
We found the fabric of the tent to remain waterproof even in torrential rain. The seams seemed to be waterproof too even without seam sealers or waterproof spray.
The organizer pockets made it easier to store our gear and other essentials. These pockets are usually prone to water leakage during a rainstorm but we encountered no such nightmare further solidifying our judgment of the tent’s water resistivity.
The large meshed-roof vent made ventilation in the interior feel divine. The fiberglass frame makes the tent much more lightweight than its steel frame counterparts. The lightweight dress helped in portability.
The removable fly helped escape the rain by covering the meshed-roof vent. We removed the fly when we wanted more air circulation inside the tent or when we wanted to stargaze.
We found the zippers of this tent did not get caught up like in all other tents which is a major attraction given the frequency of us moving in and out of the tent whilst holding something.
The dividers ensured privacy but were not completely removable and could only be tied back.
One discomfort that we encountered was that when we wanted to remove the divider and tie it back, we would also lose access to the storage pockets since they were stitched to the dividers. But we urge you to overlook this slight discomfort and choose the Browning Camping Big Horn Tent considering that the list of pros far exceeds the cons.

Our Opinion
The NTK Arizona GT Sport Camping Tent is a large multi-room camping tent with a porch that accommodates 10 people. We found the tent easy to set up. The color-coordinated poles made the assembly much more convenient.
Folding and packing up in the carry bag (included) seemed easy too. Staking the tent down, to keep the tent stable in heavy wind, may lengthen the setup time. The large meshed-roof vent made ventilation in the interior feel divine.
The fabric of the tent was extremely waterproof and this was without an additional tarp. The seams seemed to be waterproof too even without seam sealers or waterproof spray. The organizer pockets made it easier to store our gear and other essentials.
There was a screen room too which we used as a mudroom to dry out muddy clothes/shoes/gear. It also served as a bugs-free porch. The screen room could also be fully covered by the rainfly that made it possible to be used as a 3rd room.
The tent held up against strong winds and torrential rain perfectly. The material of the fly provides protection against harsh UV rays on a hot sunny day. The floor of the tent was rightly called heavy duty and did not let even a drop of water slip through.
The floor assures no molding. The dividers were completely detachable that could be used as and when required.
One slight discomfort was that the flap of the windows could not be opened/ closed from the inside because the flaps are connected to the fly. So we found no choice but to use the fly at all times. But this disadvantage must be readily traded to get the NTK Arizona GT Sport Camping Tent that is durable in all weathers.
What We Like

What We Don’t Like

Folding and packing up in the carry bag (included) seemed easy too. Staking the tent down, to keep the tent stable in heavy wind, may lengthen the setup time. The large meshed-roof vent made ventilation in the interior feel divine.
The fabric of the tent was extremely waterproof and this was without an additional tarp. We felt the tent to be lightweight which helped in portability.
This tent had a high peak height that allowed us to stand straight inside the tent. The round shape of the tent made sure there was a uniform headroom.
There was also electrical cord access which was convenient since we needed electricity inside the tent and this cord access secured the connection from water leakage and potential electrocution to the persons inside.
It is a 3-season tent that can be used all year round except for winters/mountain camping. We found the fabric of the tent to remain waterproof even in torrential rain. The fly was like an extended canopy over doors that provided extra coverage, protection, and privacy.
There were guy ropes attached to this canopy which could be tied down to make the tent more stable in heavy wind.
We found that this tent is not the most durable tent on this list but given the ample stakes and tie-down options, you should be able to overlook this. We recommend the most spacious tent on this list, the Tahoe Gear Ozark Large Family Cabin Tent.
