If you are new to camping and want to buy the correct generator for your camper then you might want to go on reading.

We all know generators come in all different sizes and shapes and it can a bit confusing to choose the right one for your camper because there is a wide variety of options when you go looking for generators. The camping generators are specially designed for the user’s convenience and needs.

You don’t want to worry about your generator going off or damaged while you have to also worry about the noise control.

Well, we already solved the noise problems in how to quiet the generator, and to answer the former question of finding the right match for generators, we have a solution for that too.

A wrong-sized or undersized generator will cause you several problems like if it is too small to handle the load, it will place strain on the unit and will result in a shutdown or even worst, it can damage the whole unit.

I hope this piece of information has inspired much to give a thought to what size you would require for your RV/camper.

What Is A Watts Law?

Yes, you got it right it is a scientific law of physics by which we will know how much power we need for our trip and then you can decide what type of generator you want. Who said, bookish knowledge has no applications in real life?

Here is a live example. Power is a measurement of the amount of work that can be done with the circuit, such as turning on an appliance.

It’s a way to determine the wattage and helps you understand exactly the amount of power you will require. The law goes by this:

  • Amp or ampere is the amount of electricity used.
  • Volts measure the pressure of electricity.
  • The number of watts is equal to amps multiplied by volts.

By applying the law or in simple ways keeping in mind these small details you can find the right fit for your camper.

What Types Of Generators Are Preferred?

Preferred generators for camping

When you are thinking about the generators to buy, you also think of the appliances you will be using during the camp trip. The generator should provide enough power to be helpful to you.

1. 2000 watt RV Generator

  • It will provide only 20 amps of power.
  • Useful for small appliances like charging phones, power banks, or TV.
  • Not for appliances like refrigerator, microwave, air conditioner, and many other heavy appliances that require more power.
  • Prefer using appliances that run on gas for the smaller generator.

If your electricity requirement for camping is a bare minimum then search for these types.

2. 3600 Watt RV Generator

  • This can be used for appliances like the refrigerator and air conditioners.
  • It can run a lot of devices at the same time.
  • If you want your air conditioner to work then you might go with a 3600-watt generator.
  • You can use appliances that run on electricity with these kinds of generators.

3. 4500 – 6500 RV Watt Generators

  • 4500-6500 watt generators are both reliable and last for a long time.
  • These offer more power and hence you can use as many appliances you want unless and until it is too much load for the generator.
  • This will be a little costlier than the other two types.
  • Investing in these kinds of generators will save you from the worry of using all the appliances and running out of power.

4. Design matters

Smaller generators provide less power, and larger generators provide more power. It’s as simple as that.

That is why recreational generators strong and perfect for camping trips. It can fulfill your basic requirements such as cell phone charging and some lights.

A portable large generator is useful for powering RVs and longer trips, as it can power more appliances and last for a long time.

How Can We Check The Appliance’s Power?

It is very important to know the power needs of your appliances as it will help you in calculating what kind of generators you would like to buy.

Here is a list of power needs of various appliances for you.

Appliances-Power required

  • RV Refrigerator: 400-1000 watts

  • On a tag attached to the handle or a hole in parts of the device.
  • In form of an engraving on the sides or the back of the device.
  • The appliance does not require more power than mentioned, it can damage the device.

Glamping?

Since we are talking about various luxuries of appliances and generators while camping, I would like to introduce a new term to you.

Glamping is a fusion of glam and camping. It means camping with all the possible luxuries of home or even more.

In these situations, you will be staying in a high-end RV park where you will have access to all the 110 Volt standard AC electricity of the traditional power grid.

This is not favorable for a majority of people, since it does not the best way to experience nature and camping, but no one here to judge you.

If that is your style and idea of travelling then you definitely want to invest in a high power generator that will last long. We have a list of good options for generator while glamping.

FAQs

What are the different types of RV generators?

There are 3 different types based on fuel used in them, namely:
1- diesel
2- gasoline
3- propane.

How important of fuel efficiency?

Fuel efficiency is a very important factor to check before buying a generator as it will decide how long you have to wait before refilling the fuel. And it may increase your trips to the fuel station and have less time for fun.

Will a 3500 generator run a camper?

Yes, it can easily run a camper and some other appliances at the same time, but be careful to not overload the generator. It is a bad idea to run all the appliances at the same time.

How do you hook up a portable generator to a camper?

Plug your 120V shore plug into your generator as you would at home. Start the generator when needed and let your RV’s existing converter manage the charging of your RV batteries. If your generator does not have a 30amp RV socket then you will need an adapter to step your 30A service plug down to a normal plug.

Why you should not leave your RV plugged in all the time?

If you leave your RV battery plugged in after it’s fully charged, it can deplete the cells’ electrolyte levels. This can lead to reduced battery life unless you have a newer RV converter with a three or four-stage charging process called a smart charger or if you’ve attached a battery tender.

Conclusion

This article must have given you a brief idea about what all things you should keep in mind while you are out looking for a perfect generator for your camper.

I would recommend keeping the watt law in mind and also choose an efficient and portable one. Check out our article on how to keep your generator quiet while camping on our website.

How To Ground A Generator? 3 Easy Steps

January 6, 2021 by Canberk Koksal Leave a Comment

Do you know what they say about portable generators? Always ground them.

What ‘they’ mean by grounding is that the connections, or the establishment of a connection, of an electric circuit or equipment to reference ground, which includes the generator’s frame.

Let me break it for you in simpler words. It refers to connecting an electric circuit to a reference ground. We need to ground every appliance in use to the ground for safety reasons.

In the case of portable generators, the frame acts as the electric circuit, and a properly installed grounding rod acts as the reference ground.

Grounding is a necessary aspect to look forward to as it allows excess electricity to be displaced and prevents you from accidental shocks or getting yourself electrocuted.

Grounding creates a neutral condition for electricity and it will protect your generator from the damage caused by abnormal electricity fluctuations.

Problems Of Not Grounding A Generator

We just looked at why do we need to ground our generators for camping. I think you should also be well aware of what are the various possible outcomes of not grounding a generator.

“ A short circuit in an undergrounded generator can cause a fire.â€

  • The path of least resistance could allow electricity to flow in places it shouldn’t be.
  • Which can cause electrocution, spark a fire, or cause other dangerous situations.
  • Grounding provides a backup path of least resistance for electricity to flow.
  • You are risking the safety of your appliances. It can damage your electrical equipment as wiring can be affected.
  • Your electrical equipment can also overheat, thereby creating a risk of fire.
  • Your circuit might not work, because many circuits don’t have a physical and direct connection to the earth.

How To Ground The Generator?

The first and foremost step is to check the user’s manual, if or not it is required to be grounded. Although it is a given that every portable generator should be grounded for safety reasons.

The minimum basic requirement is a main circuit i.e generator, a reference rod. Whether or not you need a reference rod depends upon your system of the generator.

What if there is no manual?

  1. Check the design of the generator. Most modern portable generators are designed such as the metal frame around it acts as the least path of resistance for current.
  2. If your generator is a separately derived system. In this case, you will be required to use a reference rod.
  3. If you do not have a generator with the separately derived system, you do not need to ground at all.

To recognize a separately derived system, simply check the generator’s transfer switch. An unseparated derived system features a transfer switch that cannot be transferred to the neutral ground conductor, meaning it will not need a connection to a grounding rod.

Most portable generators have their fuel tank, engine, and housing bonded to the frame, meaning they will not have to be grounded.

Requirements For Grounding The Generator

Tools required for grounding the generator

Remember the ground rules for camping? Always be prepared. Therefore you need to be prepared and equipped with the right type of tools for grounding.

You can easily find them online or in any hardware or store with camping supplies.

  • A wire stripper– you will need to strip the wire when connecting to the copper rod or generator. This is the online link to the tool.
  • Copper grounding wire– this is the link between the rod and the generator. Buy or carry an ample amount of it just in case. This is the link to the wires.
  • 4-foot copper ground rod– the most necessary product as this will act as the reference rod. You need to see how far the rod is to be driven in the ground and then decide. This is the link to the rod.
  • Hammer– you will need this to hammer the rod into the ground. Just ensure to buy a good one so that it will not damage the insulation of the rod, which can lead to a poor connection.
  • Pliers– this is required to connect the wire to the pieces of equipment correctly.
  • Wrench– it comes in handy when we need to loosen a bolt or something in the generator for proper connection.
  • You can carry your toolbox to the campsite as you will require some other tools here and there if the ground is not favorable.

3 Step Guide To Ground Your Generator

How To Ground A Generator

With all the equipment mentioned above, you are good to start grounding your generator.

Grounding becomes very easy when you are on a campsite and they have provided you with a reference rod installed, now you just have to connect your generator to the rod with a conducting wire. It is as simple as it sounds.

But, what if there is no pre-installed rod? That is why we have the copper grounding rod.

Step 1- Install the copper ground rod.

Search for a soft ground where it will be easy to ground the rod into the ground. If there is no such area available, just pour some water on the ground and wait until the soil loosens a bit. Do not make it too wet and flowy.

Once the ground is ready, drive the rod into the ground, using a hammer or a mallet. Make sure to drive the rod at least 8 feet inside the ground to ensure proper installation.

If the ground is too rocky, you can drive the rod at an angle of 45 degrees maximum.

Step 2- Connect the copper wire to the rod.

After your rod is completely installed at 4 feet depth into the ground, it is time to get the wire ready by striping it at both ends. Properly strip the wire to ensure proper connections.

Wrap the stripped wire around the rod using a plier. Make it tight to ensure connections.

Step 3- Connect it to the generator.

Once all the setup is done, you can proceed to the last step of the grounding that is to connect the generator.

Take the other stripped end of the wire and connect it to the generator.
Keeping in mind the convenience of portable generators, you can easily find a grounding bolt o the generators.

Loosen the bolt enough to connect the wire properly and tight. Use a plier to connect to ensure tight connections.

Once the wire is connected, again tighten the bolt back.

Tips To Follow While Grounding A Generator

Tips for grounding a generator

Since you will be dealing with current and wires, there are some tips to keep in mind.

  • Never ground the generator while it’s in use.
  • Make sure the ground and equipment are dry and away from water.
  • Ensure safe distance from the wires in working conditions or the area where the generator is grounded.
  • Distance will also help you to get rid of the noise from the generator. You can check our article on how to keep the generator quite while camping.
  • When you are using a generator with a separate grounding system, it is better to use wires and rods with low resistance. Resistance makes it difficult for the current to flow.
  • If your generator has a frame that acts as a circuit, then the manufacturers have already taken care of the low resistance.
  • A resistance of 0.2 ohms is preferred.
  • Ensure all the connections are tight, to ensure grounding can perform the purpose of passing the current to the ground.
  • Wear safety rubber gloves while working with wires.

FAQs

Should I ground my generator with my house ground?

Yes, in fact, this is the only way. you should NEVER ground them separately. it can be dangerous if there is a nearby lightning strike or a failure of the local electrical utility’s infrastructure.

Can I ground without a reference rod when boondocking?

Yes, you can round your generator anywhere. You just need the grounding rod and appropriate tools.

What is the farthest a portable generator should be from the campsite?

The distance should be at least 20 feet from the campsite.

Are there any already grounded generators available?

Yes, companies like Honda successfully build grounded generators. You do need to ground the generators but you will be required to place them on the ground.

Can rebar be used as a grounding rod?

Yes, Rebar can be used as a grounding rod, however, copper rod works much better. Copper is a better conductor, and will not corrode as badly as steel. Rebar corrodes much easier and will lose contact easier. But rebar is much cheaper to use.

Conclusion

I hope this article gave you everything you need to know about grounding a generator. I would still recommend you to read the user’s manual for a better guide, since, there are so many different types of portable generators available in the market.

How To Make A Generator Quiet For Camping: 5 Practical Ways

January 5, 2021 by Canberk Koksal Leave a Comment

Generators! A necessity and a headache both. A generator will help you light up as many lights as you want during a trip. It’s a requirement when we are with a large community and we need to light up a large area around the campsite. It can be a headache because it makes so much noise, and the sound can be annoying sometimes.

Well, a generator is a must nowadays due to the severe weather change and it ensures the availability of electricity, which is also very important.

The main source of noise in the generator is the exhaust pipes attached to the motor. It also produces vibrations and due to that, some noise is produced because of the friction between the surface it is kept and the generator itself.

The straight question why don’t we switch to solar energy when we can? This is a misconception that solar energy can replace generators. Solar energy is completely dependant on the sun, what if you went out in winters or it’s just a gloomy day.

Also, the amount of solar energy produced is way less than the generators, and solar requires more equipment and space than a generator.

We have the answer to How To Make A Generator Quiet For Camping, and some tips to use a generator on a camp.

Let’s get started, shall we?

5 Ways To Keep Generator Quiet While Camping.

how to make a generator quiet for camping

How annoying or noisy can generators be? Let’s say our normal routine conversations in a home is about 50 dBA. If a generator is marked between 50-60 dBA, it is fairly quiet. Anything above that will sound annoying.

Well, if you are thinking of solving this problem by inventing a quiet generator, then my friend I should tell you that you are quite late to take the credit.

The market already has a ton of quiet generators but of course, they are costly. Companies like Honda have succeeded in making a quiet generator and save you from all the hassle. The list of such generators is here.

You would still need these ways because why spend a fortune when you have some hacks?

Also, if your old noisy generator is still in working condition then there is no need to replace it, just fix it.

1. Use A Automobile Muffler

This is one of the commonest strategies to make your generator quiet. You can use this muffler for many other appliances other than a generator to silent loud appliances.

The job of an automobile muffler is to muffle the sound coming out from the exhaust pipes of the generators. Some generators already come with the muffler but you require to replace them from time to time. Not all generators have this, you can install these yourself.

They have perforated tubes inside them, which are used to deflect the sound waves from the generators. You can use it to muffle the noise of your portable generator.

This method is very effective if done properly. It is also very important to find the right fitting mufflers for your exhaust pipes. The wrong fittings would leak the noise from your generators, this cancels the complete point of installing mufflers.

You can achieve around 10-15 decibel or more reduction in noise.

2. Keep Generators Away

Distance is a factor when it comes to getting away from the noise. If you want to keep your generator quiet then you also might think about keeping the generator away from the campsite.

The distance of how far you want to keep the generator depends upon what type of caping and where you go. If you are at a national park or campsite then you are restricted to use a certain space and also you are sharing the space with other people.

Your distance from the generator can be a source of annoyance to them. Take care of where you are keeping your generator and if it is disturbing someone else.

If you are planning to go boondocking or dry camping then you have a large space for yourself. You are not sharing the area with any other humans other than your companions. You can decide to keep the generator as per the length of the chord/wires or how much you want to walk.

Most generator brands will show the decibel rating of that particular model on it. These decibel ratings are measured at about 7 meters out from the operating generator in most cases.

So the thumb rule can be to keep your generator at least 20 feet away from your campsite if you want to operate in that decibel range.

3. Place On A Soft Surface

The basic principle behind this is soft surfaces are not sonorous. If you keep your generator on concrete ground or wood, the friction between the ground and the generator will add up to the noise of the generator.

It is better to avoid keeping your generator on a hard surface. Keeping it on soil or grass will be a better option if you want to decrease the extra noise.

Anti- vibrational mats are very handy in avoiding this situation. They are made of rubber and help in keeping the vibrations low. Speaking of rubber you can also just get the rubber pads for the base/legs of the generator.

4. Build An Soundproof Enclosure

An enclosure is a box to store your appliances and keep them safe from the outer atmosphere and the damage from the exposed climate. But we can make them soundproof and use it to our benefit of reducing noise.

The best thing about building your enclosure is that you can make it according to your convenience and it can be used for other loud appliances as well.

How to build a soundproof enclosure for a generator.

  • Take proper measurements of the generator and adjust it according to your needs. Make it big enough to fit the generator. Don’t leave any holes or the noise will leak out of it.
  • Leave enough space for sound insulation and ventilation equipment.
  • Cut out MDX(Medium-Density Flipboard) as per your measurements.
  • Once you are done cutting these mark these with a pencil so that you won’t confuse them with the other pieces.
  • Attach the first layer of MLV (mass loaded vinyl) using a green glue noise proofing compound.
  • Once the first layer dries, you can add the other layer to it.
  • Assemble the enclosure and you are good to go.

5. Use a Zombie Box Generator Silent Enclosure

This a special product which is designed to be soundproofing the noisy generator. This is a soundproof enclosure that is weatherproof and portable as well.

A zombie box will make your generator quieter. The website claims that it can reduce up to 99% of the noise. The design is collapsable as well for easy storage.

Things To Keep In Mind While Using A Generator While Camping

Tips to use a generator for camping
  • Make sure to keep your generator dry and away from the rain.
  • Always use a shield or a cover to keep the generator safe and working.
  • Always follow the rules of the national parks of not exceeding a certain decibel range from any appliances.
  • Don’t forget to secure your generator with a thick chain and lock it to the axle of the RV or something solid.
  • Keep checking for the fuel in the generator if you wish to run them overnight. Maximum generators can run up to 8-12 hours with a full tank of fuel.
  • Don’t run your generator 24 hours a day. No portable generator can handle the load.
  • Switch off the generator several times a day to give it time to cool down before it can be used again.
  • Never refill the fuel of a generator when it is running. Always allow it to cool down for at least 20 minutes before refilling.

How To Pack Eggs For Camping? 5 Easy Ways

January 5, 2021 by Canberk Koksal Leave a Comment

Don’t you agree eggs are the best thing to have in breakfast? We all agree.

Eggs can be a little headache when it comes to taking them camping. They are fragile and you have to take extra care of them while traveling.

Also, eggs can grow bacteria very fast. Keeping them refrigerated is the safest and effective way to keep them fresh but that is not convenient while traveling.

Eggs grow a bacteria named salmonella, which is a group of bacteria that are responsible for food poisoning. The symptoms include vomiting, fever, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea. The symptoms show in about 12-72 hours after infection.

This is not to scare you all but it’s necessary to know how important it is to store your eggs and pack them safely. Although cooking the eggs until both the white and yolk is solid will kill all the salmonella in the eggs but we cannot have eggs in the same form every day. What should you do?

Not only the health factor but you also want to carry raw eggs without getting them cracked. How sad you would be if you find them cracked and the slimy whites are all over the place, and now everything smells like eggs.

Don’t worry, we have got you covered with how to pack your eggs for camping? How to tell eggs are spoiled? And whatnot.

Let’s get started, shall we?

5 Safe Ways To Pack Eggs For Camping.

How To Pack Eggs For Camping

Keeping eggs intact is more important than keeping them safe as you would know-

“Store-bought eggs have a shelf life of 4-5 weeks if kept in the refrigerator and farm fresh eggs can remain fresh for about a month if the pact is kept dry and at a constant and cool-ish temperature.â€

So, now you know what type of eggs you should prefer for traveling. The answer is farm fresh eggs are preferred more.

The roads are not even all the time, and that is why you want your eggs to be adequately packed otherwise the smell of the broken eggs in your trailer can spoil everyone’s mood.

Here is the correct way to do it.

1. Use A Cooler

As mentioned earlier storing the eggs in a refrigerator or a cooler is the best option to keep them fresh. The study says storing them at 40 degrees Fahrenheit or lower to keep them fresh in a refrigerator is the best-suited temperature.

This can be the option for you if you do not have a poultry farm near your house to go and buy fresh farm eggs for your camping trip and you end up with store-bought eggs. Store-bought eggs are fine when carried in coolers if you are planning to go on a long trip and do not have access to ice then avoid using store-bought eggs.

“Eggs taken out of a refrigerator can go bad in 2 hours.â€

Insulated bags with ice can also be an alternative for coolers when you are carrying raw eggs or deviled eggs do not remove the shell of the eggs, as it is a natural shield or cover on them.

2. Pre-Crack Them

This method is a combination of effective, convenient, and time-saver. Try to plan the number of eggs you would require on a camping trip and crack all the eggs.

You can keep the whites and yolk together or either store them separately in different mason jars and put them in a freezer overnight before you leave for camping.

Freezing is a common method to keep any food fresh. By following all the above steps correctly we are freezing the cracked eggs.

If mason jars sound risky to carry around you can replace the jars with a ziplock bag; just freeze the bag in the freezer and they are ready to go.

3. Safe Packaging

This is the key step to carry or pack your eggs however you want them like raw, soft boiled, hard-boiled, deviled, etc. the list is too long. You can pack the whole egg tray together or pack each egg separately.

Wrap each egg in a newspaper or for more protection from any jerks bubble wraps also works. Many food delivery companies use the bubble wrap technique while delivering eggs.

After you wrapped the eggs, put them in a sealed plastic container. Make sure to keep the container with eggs separately or a secure place where there is less effect of jerks from uneven roads.

4. Use Powdered Eggs

Powdered eggs are nothing but completely dehydrated eggs. Using powdered eggs is a very good option for having eggs without worrying about the hassle of carrying them to the campsite.

“Powdered Egg carries all the usual nutritional benefits of a fresh egg, without the worry of it going bad! They offer a good source of protein, immune-boosting properties, and antibacterial qualities.â€(view source for more information)

Powdered eggs also save you from the worry of their shelf life. Just mix the powder with water and you will have a whisked egg ready to be cooked. The powder eggs also have the option of only whites or only yolks or whole eggs.

These are easily available online. View it here.

5. Coat Them With Mineral Oil

This is a method to preserve eggs for a long time but this is also effective for small trips. This method will not save the eggs from breaking but this increases their shelf life by many folds.

“Eggs covered in mineral oils can be preserved from 6 months to 1 yearâ€

Eggs already have a natural coating over the shell to preserve them but many companies remove this coating because they feel this can contain some bacteria in them, and then mark a new shelf life on the packaging that is way shorter than the original.

If you coat them in oil while they are fresh then they can be preserver for longer.

This method is best suited for long camping trips.

How To Tell Eggs Are Not Edible?

How to tell eggs have gone bad

We all know now what could happen from food poisoning from eating eggs, you don’t want to fall sick on a trip, that ruins the whole experience for you and your companions.

Do not consume the eggs if they-

  • Are cracked
  • Leaking
  • Stuck to the bottom of the carton

These are the signs that the eggs are not edible. Are these signs enough to check the freshness of the egg? No.

Can you check your eggs for freshness if they look fine? Yes, we have a way to check the eggs for freshness.

  • Fill a bowl with cold water or normal room temperature water.
  • Place the eggs in the bowl filled with water.
  • If they sink to the bottom or lay flat on one side- that means they are fresh and are edible.
  • If they float- the eggs have gone bad and a bad egg floats because of a large air cell formed in the egg.

Any floating egg should be thrown out.

3 key ways to store your beer

When it comes to storing bear correctly, we have 3 ground rules set by bottleneckmgmt.com:

  • Store your beer upright– This will decrease the risk of contamination from the cap.
  • Store your beers below room temperature– A warm shelf will increase the rate at which beer loses freshness.
  • Store your beers in the dark– Beers become ‘sulfurous’ when they are touched by sunlight. This is why some companies choose to use brown bottles – they block the most light and protect the beer as much as possible. This is also why kegs do not have windows.

Still don’t know the ways to ensure your beers are in the right condition? We have got you covered with how to keep your beer cold while camping.

Let’s get started, shall we?

6 Tried And Tested Ways To Keep Your Beer Cold While Camping.

Keep your beer cold will help you in maintaining the ‘brewery fresh’ taste of your beer. According to Craft Beer USA, “A general rule of thumb for the brewing industry is that beer stored at 100°F for one week tastes as old as beer stored at 70°F for two months, or as old as beer stored at 40°F for one year.”

Now you know why is it important o keep your beer cold, you should know why?

how to keep beer cold while camping

1. Replace Glass Bottles

This is the 100% effective method to keep the beer as chilled as you want for a long time. Empty all your beer in an insulated thermos or bottle. Insulation will stop the heat from outside to enter the beer and make it warm.

You don’t have to worry about broken glasses and how to store them carefully. This will save you from a lot of hassle.

If you belong to the club of ‘beer only tastes good from the glass bottles’ then we have 5 more ways that will not take away the fun of drinking beer straight out of bottles.

2. Coolers Are A Must

This is one of the obvious ways to keep anything cold- just store it with ice in a cooler. But as we mentioned above it is important to store it upright to avoid contamination.

Therefore it is important to keep checking the ice melted or not. Water cannot maintain its low temperature for too long, it will soon come to room temperature.

It is important to have separate coolers for drinks and food. Because storing meat the wrong way could also cause a problem. Here is how to pack meat properly.

3. Store In Dry Ice

The dry ice method is similar to the cooler method because it is stored in the cooler but with dry ice. Dry ice is risky to handle therefore you should handle it with care. Always cover it with something.

A pound of dry ice wrapped in a towel or something at the bottom of your cooler should suffice for several days.

4. Bury Your Beer

What if you reached the campsite and realized that your beers are not chilled? What if all the ice in the cooler melts? This is not a good situation. This method will come to your rescue.

This method is exactly like it sounds, you will be required to bury your beer bottles under the ground, but not any ground.

Store them in the hole of the ground where there is no direct sunlight to heat the ground. Direct sunlight spoils the beer. The hole should be dark, soft, and at a place where there is shade all day long.

The principle behind this method is that the ground is usually colder than the air. Digging less than a foot would do.

Make sure to mark the area where you buried your beer to save from the labor of beer hunting at night or at any point in time.

Also, make sure to cover your bottles with a plastic bag or cloth bag. This will save your bottles from dirt or soil, but don’t forget to dispose of the bags properly.

5. Windy Days Are A Bonus

This is a very interesting and fun technique to keep your beer cool. If you are out on a windy day for camping, the wind will do the job for you.

You just have to wrap your bottles in a wet cloth like a t-shirt or cloth bag, or you can also store each bottle in separate wet socks. Keep the wet cloth wrapped bottles at a place where the wind can reach easily. Water and wind will keep your beer cold.

You can hang the wet socks wrapped bottles on a branch of a tree. But make sure to not hang them too low or in the middle, they can swing due to the wind and bang to the tree’s trunk.

What’s more painful than wasting alcohol? Just keep them somewhere they can get most winds.

6. Keep It Dipped In Water

If you are in close vicinity of a running water source like a river or a stream then your beer problems are solved. Put the whole pack of beer cart ina bag with some weight in it.

Keep this dipped in the water as much as your rope allows, but not too deep. Running water sources have a low temperature in-depth since cold water is heavier than hot water.

Tie a little ribbon so that it will keep floating on the surface and you will know where they are bottles in the water. Ensure to submerge the complete bottles if you want to cool them fast. If you want to leave them for a while you can leave them half-dipped in water.

Be safe around water as it can dangerous. Avoid practicing this method at nighttime as it can not safe. This is effective for the daytime.
